I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist and trainer, offering a range of therapeutic and educational services mainly in Manningtree, Colchester and the Essex/Suffok region. My fundamental psychotherapeutic approach is Integrative Psychosynthesis.

my approach

• attention and respect

I listen with attention and respond to you directly, to help us both clarify our understanding of your circumstances and needs. I won’t always to agree with you, but l’ll discuss with you openly the implications of differences between our points of view.

• relevance and pacing

I’ll check with you regularly that our work together is important to you and relevant to your goals, and I stay in dialogue with you about the speed and depth of the work, to make sure that it always remains both productive and safe. In on-going work of any kind, we will not end the sequence of meetings unexpectedly.

• confidentiality

I hold in confidence discussions in counselling and psychotherapy sessions, in line with the BACP Ethical Framework. In other work, such as consultancy and supervision, the extent and limits to our confidentiality are negotiated between us.

• freedom of choice, in relationship

The basis of my work is relationship, so I bring my own views and personality to the work. I don’t conceal myself behind a professional role, but instead offer a personal meeting with you, whether as client, supervisee or student.
My priority is always to create a relationship where your choices and decisions can become clearer and more profoundly connected to your values: to help you recognise and articulate what matters to you. Although I may well offer various techniques and exercises to help with this, my primary tool is always the dialogue between us. 

Meetings longer than one hour are charged pro rata per 15 minutes
Invoices for fees can be provided on request. Incidental services such as writing of reports, references, witnessing of accreditation submissions etc may be charged for, depending on the work involved.

cancellation policy:
In principle the full fee is chargeable for any session booked if I receive less than 48 hours notice of cancellation.
In practice, I do my best to be flexible, and I prefer to reschedule the cancelled session to a new appointment within the next few days whenever possible.
